Wounded Warrior – Derek McConnell

Yesterday I found out about a wounded soldier on the Homefront Blog from Operation Write Home. He was stationed in Afghanistan in March 2011 and on July 23rd 2011, he lost both legs due to an IED. You can read more of his story here

OWH asked us to send cards of encouragement to him. So today I made him a card and I plan on mailing it out tomorrow.

This is what I started out with, I sort of had an idea but not a solid one.  --->

<-- And this is what it turn out to be. Came out pretty good, since I wasn't quite sure of what I was going to do.

I wrote this quote in the card, it’s the one I like out of all the ones I found.

"When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till it seems as though you could not hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn."  ~Harriet Beecher Stowe
